Good-natured Guy is a simple bank clerk from the metropolis of Free City. Their inhabitants fall into two categories. Some lead a quiet life, where each day is indistinguishable from the previous one. Others do as they please: rob banks and shops, drive around in tanks, fire from all guns, blow up everything and so on. The secret is that Free City is a giant (and only) location in the online video game of the same name. The location was created by the eccentric game designer Antoine. People like Maxim are local NPCs, non-player characters who serve as extras and have no will of their own. However, everything is changing. Guy meets Milly’s girlfriend in the middle of Free City. He falls in love with her and begins to act contrary to his script.
